Help older adults feel involved, purposeful and less lonely during the pandemic…..

Show them how to video chat with others using smartphones, laptops or tablets.
Use apps on these devices to provide captions for adults with hearing challenges.
Encourage friends and family outside of your household to telephone, write notes or send cards to lift your loved one’s spirits.

  • Schedule virtual family visits

  • Use television for more than news. Cable and networks offer classic movies and shows.

  • Create care packages. Printed photos, art projects from grandchildren and homemade gifts. This will give your senior loved ones reassurance that your thinking of them.

The COVID-19 threat and the ongoing uncertainty surrounding it are difficult for everyone, but for seniors the prospect of isolation is very real, and it can lead to depression, worsening physical health, increased stress, and cognitive changes.

Taking a few extra minutes out of your day for a phone call or to write a letter could make a world of difference.
