Benefits of Weight Loss..
Losing weight has great benefits
Even a little will do a lot
A new study shows that losing even a modest amount of weight, about 5 to 10 percent of your total body weight, can come with some big health benefits.
The research, published in the journal Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes, suggests these benefits may last several years, even if some of the weight creeps back on.
“For people with overweight or obesity issues, losing weight is an effective way to reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease’, says Dr. Susan A. Jebb from University of Oxford.
In the U.S., roughly 2 out of 3 adults are overweight or have obesity. Both of are risk factors for heart disease and stroke.
Jebb notes that “many doctors and patients recognize that weight loss is often followed by weight regain” and the importance of a slow change in your lifestyle. Thinking long term is essential to transition into a healthier lifestyle.
